We hope to see you all tomorrow, Saturday May 1 from 12-4 at Sally Loo’s!!!
Remember to bring to-go cups and tupperware to lessen the impact on the environment.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Keep your eyes out for some kick-ass posters advertising this event. They should start popping up downtown in businesses and on Cal Poly’s campus. A special thanks to Ben Eckold for poster design and Megan Worthington who got them printed for FREE!
Feel free to get your own copy of the poster here.
A special thanks to Matt Brady for creating this awesome video about the event!
And we hope to see you on May 1 from 12-4pm!
Last Friday the SLO Green Dream Team Technologies class from Cuesta College completed the pre-event Sustainability Audit. The results of the audit are due at the end of this week but we have pictures from their work and thought we would share them with you.

We are currently working on bringing: bike parking, a bike kitchen and live music to this CarrotMob event. Thanks for stopping by!
The Cal Poly Posse is proud to announce the location of San Luis Obispo’s next Carrotmob.
Sally Loo’s Cafe submitted a bid of 100%. That’s right folks, 100% of the money spent during Carrotmob will go back into the business to make it more energy efficient and environmentally conscious.
Visit Sally Loo’s site for more information.
We have contacted all the businesses on our list and will be hearing back with the last bid shortly. We hope to share with everyone the location of San Luis Obispo’s next Carrotmob by Tuesday, March 16.
Stay tuned…
CarrotMob SLO will be partnering with the Cuesta Green Technology Team to perform the pre and post CarrotMob audit. The Cuesta Green Technology Team is a class open to community members interested in learning and implementing green building practices. The teachers are heavily involved in sustainability and provide extensive knowledge and experience to their students.
Providing the energy audit will provide real-world experience to class members and allow them to practice skills being taught in the class.
We look forward to working with them and sharing the results of their audits with everyone!
Our next target is local coffee shops. We have been out canvassing them and meeting with management to pitch the idea. So far we have two bids, and they are high!!!
One bid came in at 65% and the other…. 100%!!!!
We are very excited for the next Carrob Mob to hit SLO. Come join us.
Thank you all Carrot Mobbers! The event was a huge success!
By the numbers, from 3:50pm to 7:00 pm on October 24th…
Revenues = $3.356.23 (roughly 7 times the normal revenue for that time.)
Transactions = 214
Amount to be re-invested into the store for energy efficiency: $1,342.49
Lbs… of food collected for Food Bank: 90lbs
Money donated to the Food Bank: $100
On October 24th, 2009 from 3:50pm – 7:00pm over 200 SLO community members participated in San Luis Obispo’s first ever Carrot Mob event at the Quick Stop Market on 2600 Broad Street as part of the 350.org International Day of Climate Action. During this roughly 3 hour period 40% of all revenues generated by the Quick Stop Market were to be re-invested into energy efficiency upgrades in the store.
The revenues during this time were $3,356.23 which is roughly seven times the average revenue for the Quick Stop for that time period. Therefore $1,342.49 will be re-invested into the Quick Stop to make it more energy efficient. The exact efficiency measures will be revealed next week when the professional energy audit report prepared (and donated) by Energy Efficiency Solutions is complete.
As a 350.org event, the SLO Carrot Mob joined over 4,000 climate action events on Saturday in 181 countries on all seven continents around the world. The number “350” which stands for 350 parts per million of carbon dioxide equivalent is what many climate scientists believe to be the safe level of CO2 needed in our atmosphere to avoid the worst effects of global climate change.
What: Carrot Mob: A “Quick Stop” to Global Warming
Who: Eco-Consumers and Quick Stop Market
Where: Quick Stop Market, 2600 Broad St, San Luis Obispo, CA
When: 3:50 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24th, 2009
What is a Carrot Mob?
A Carrot Mob is a reverse boycott, where we, as eco-friendly consumers, will reward one store with lots of business on that day. In return the business will use a certain percentage of their day’s revenues to make eco-friendly improvements to their store. Its a win-win situation, the business wins, the consumer wins, and the earth wins.
